As the Institute is becoming a major conference venue, this unit encompasses one of the most important service areas in IDEP.
National, subregional and regional organizations and institutions frequently use the facilities available, i.e. a well-equipped conference room, efficient interpretation/translation services and secretarial support.
A distinguishing feature of IDEP is that it is a bilingual institution, with English and French as the languages of all its operations. It has a permanent staff and facilities for simultaneous interpretation and translation; lectures, seminars and all other activities are conducted in both languages. It is the only regional institution of its kind, able to transcend the language barrier in the delivery of its services and serve all countries of the continent.
WORKSHOPS, SEMINARS AND CONFERENCES
Cutting
across all of these activities are a series of workshops, seminars and conferences organized by IDEP,
on its own or in conjunction with other African and non-African institutions and organizations. A
variety of topics related to African development concerns and related global political economic
issues are covered.
Increasingly, because of its long experience, its improved physical and technological capacity, its reservoir of information on African development issues, and the large pool of expertise at its disposal, the Institute is becoming a major conference venue on the Continent.
